EU/EEA citizens who will work in Sweden for a period longer than three months have a right to reside without having to apply for a residence permit. You do, however, need to register with the Migration Board within three months of your arrival in Sweden. For the registration you need either a valid passport or an identity card showing your nationality. You also need to fill in a form called Registration of right of residence, provided by the Migration Board.
The right to reside applies to you as an EU/EEA citizen who is able to support yourself and your family members. You are allowed to start working immediately.
The labour market in Småland is good and unemployment is well below average of the country as a whole. The region, situated in the middle of southern Sweden, is a real logistic centre with warehouses for companies such as Jysk, DHL and IKEA among others. In Småland, known for its great number of small manufacturing companies and wooden house builders in particular, there are also quite a few bigger companies. Industry and commerce are two fast expanding and developing sectors, which means that there is a demand for highly qualified workforce.
